Rudy & Belle Reindeer Knit Kit

    Regular Price: £6.99

    Special Price £3.49

This month we’re stepping up the Christmas knitting with quick makes and stylish idea for all the family. Our official Elmer the Elephant toy pattern will be the perfect gift for your little ones to unwrap on Christmas morning. If you want to make a really special gift for a mum and daughter, take a look at the beautiful Novita stranded pullover pattern. Novita is Finland’s favourite knitting company and I couldn’t be more excited that its yarn is now available here in the UK – you can find out why I love it so much inside.

Knit a pair of adorable reindeer with your exclusive knit kit, complete with their very own festive wardrobe! If you’re not a fan of knitting toys though, don’t worry – we’ve got two more exclusive patterns to choose from using your yarn kit. I’m so torn between whether I want to knit the cosy festive hat or the cool geometric mitts. I’d love to see your makes – don’t forget to share your photo with us on Facebook and Instagram if you knit anything from this issue.

If you’re not sure what to cast on first, don’t worry – as ever, we’ve got lots of interesting features to read, so pour yourself a cuppa, grab a slice of cake and have a flick through this issue. I loved finding out all about Debonnaire yarn and I always enjoy finding out what’s new in knitting. For even more pattern inspiration, don’t miss my top picks for Christmas gifts.

  3. Knit Now issue 106

    Knit Now issue 106

Knitmas Supplement book & Official Wallace & Gromit tin and stitch markers

    Regular Price: £6.99

    Special Price £1.99

The key word for this issue is layering – with the weather so unpredictable, we need plenty of versatile knits. Our cover garment by Lana Jois is the perfect garment for taking you from the warmer to the cooler months – it’s easy to layer it over a vest when it’s warm or a long-sleeves top as the weather turns chilly. Of course, a woolly accessory is a girl’s best friend in the autumn and there are plenty to choose from this month – but as a Fair-Isle fanatic, I’ve got to tip my hat to Rebecca Tsai’s adorable Turtle Row beanie.

This is also the time of year I start to think in earnest about knitting for Christmas. If you’re the same as me, you’re in luck – you’ll find heaps of inspiration in this issue. Not only is our magazine packed with ideas you’ll love to make for all the family, this month one of your gifts is a fab Knitmas book that is full to bursting with festive ideas. For me, nothing says Christmas like curling up in front of the TV and watching Wallace & Gromit – so we’ve gone all-out with an exclusive knitting tin as well as a Christmas jumper featuring these lovable characters.

I know thinking about all that gift knitting can be a bit much, so before you start your shopping, why not grab a cuppa and sit down for a read first? Dee Hardwicke is letting us in on her colour secrets and we’ve got a round-up of the best new releases from your favourite brands. I loved reading all about Louis Boria’s community work and how Sheila Hewitt finds the inspiration for her amazing colour palette.

    DOUGAL KNIT KIT

    Regular Price: £6.99

    Special Price £1.99

Welcome to the high-summer issue of Knit Now. We’re looking a little way south and a long way back this month. Ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt and beyond provide oodles of inspiration for warm-weather palettes and textures, like the hieroglyph-style ibis cowl that’s also a great opportunity to flex your stranded colour work muscles!

I love the Nefertum Shawl, which is such an elegant piece for summer evening. The Pharaoh Top combines strong colour and striking pattern to stylish effect – and the short sleeve make it summer friendly. And that’s not all we have in lovely lightweight knits. The Brighton Beach Top works well with jeans, but – if the weather holds up – also makes a chic cover-up b the sea. The Regain and Berry Vine cardigans are simply perfect for throwing round your shoulders on summer nights.

We haven’t forgotten about the little ones either – I think you’ll agree that our unisex Ladybird Cardigan is beyond adorable, and don’t the Toni & Tina Triceratops toys in delicious ice-cream shades look good enough to eat?

Don’t worry if you’re not ready to cast on yet, there’s plenty to read first. We’re charting to Julie Dubreux from Julie Knits in Paris and Jessica James from Ginger Twist Studio. Julie’s mantra is ‘a splash of colour a day keeps the doctor away’ and I’m totally on board – check out this issue’s pattern picks for some colourful inspiration.

    Happy knitting,

    Kate

This month as the weather starts to hint more heavily towards summer, we’re starting to switch to lighter yarn and lacier patterns. This issue’s cover star, the Lattice Crust top is a fantastic layering piece which will be a delight to knit. I’m not kidding myself though – we still live in the UK and I for one wear my jumper all year round, so you’ll find a couple of cosier knits in here too including the Botanics Pullover, which is a fantastic unisex knit. If you’re thinking of casting on a new garment, don’t miss Dana’s tips for knitting fantastic garments. She’s inspired me to crack on with some WIPs.

If you fancy a quick knit, there’s plenty to choose from in this issue. I can’t resist our Shaun the Sheep jumper that you can knit in no time with chunky yarn. For a portable project, why not try the Giverny hat or Aki Scarf? They can both be made from under 100g of yarn. For the toy lovers out there, we’ve got a little treat from Sachiyo Ishii – two adorable little sheep to knit. They’re even wearing their own little cabled jumpers.

There are some fantastic features in this issue too, so if you’re not quite sure what to cast on first, why not grab a cuppa and settle in for a good read before you decide? I love my KnitPro needles, so it was fantastic to hear from the team this month about all the good work it does. If you want to give KnitPro needles a try, check out our subscription offer or if you don’t fancy taking out a subscription, pop along to a participating yarn shop to claim your free needles!
