To help us understand how you use our website, we collect information such as the date and time of server requests, referring websites, browser type and so forth. Information of this kind does not identify you personally.
We also collect some information which potentially could be used to personally identify you, such as your IP address. We will not use this information to personally identify you, and we will not disclose this information unless compelled to by law.
You may also choose to provide us with information about yourself when registering for some of our online services, or placing an order for a product. We will not disclose this information without your permission unless compelled to by law. The sole exception to this is where we use an outside agency to provide customer service (for instance, an agency may be used to process subscription orders and enquiries).
If you have supplied us your email address and have agreed to accept emails from us, we will periodically send you email newsletters. If you decide you no longer want to receive these, you can opt out again by following the instructions at the bottom of the newsletters.
We do not store credit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties
Cookies are text files that are created on your computer to store information about your preferences on a website. When you return to this website, we may access the cookie that has been created on a previous visit. If you do not wish to have cookies placed on your computer, you can set your web browser to refuse them, and you can delete existing cookies. However, some features of this website (and many others you visit) may not function properly if you disable cookies.
With effect from 26th May 2012, all websites which place cookies on visitors' machines are required to gain express permission for these cookies to be set. This is why when you arrived at the site, a prompt at the top of the screen asked if you wanted to Accept Cookies.
What's a cookie?
A cookie is just a text file placed on a user's computer by a website, which is used by the website to 'remember' things about that user.
The new cookie regulations have been introduced across the European Union owing to concerns about privacy. Whilst it is true that in some cases cookies can be used to the detriment of users' privacy, in the vast majority of cases they are used to provide an improved user experience, either directly by adding features such as shopping baskets, or indirectly by enabling website operators to understand how people interact with their websites.
Why does moremags.com want to set cookies?
1. To enable the online shop to work. The shop relies on cookies to provide the shopping basket feature - a 'session cookie' is created so that we can keep track of what you've added to your basket. This cookie only lasts until you check out of the shop, or until you close your browser window, or for an hour if you do neither of those things; after that it's destroyed. The EU regulations actually provide an exemption for essential cookies of this kind, so even if you choose not to Accept Cookies generally, if you use the shopping basket a session cookie will have to be created on your machine.
2. To track visits to our website using Google Analytics, a widely used tool which provides website owners with information about how people use their website. If you tell us you do not wish to Accept Cookies, then Google Analytics cookies will no longer be set. Note that Google Analytics does not tie actions to specific individuals - it just presents us with numbers, not names. These numbers help us to understand things such as which pages and sections of the site people visit most, which web browser software they use, which screen resolutions they are using and so on. Understanding this helps us improve our website, so we would encourage you to please Accept Cookies so that we can do this.
If you choose not to Accept Cookies, you can still use the website, but please be aware that you'll get the same message the next time you visit the site. That's because the only way the site could 'remember' that you did not choose to accept cookies would be by setting a cookie on your machine...
